Southern Ontario's Premier Skydiving Facility
Student Coaching and Skydiver License PreparationOk. I have thrown myself out of a plane a dozen times. What comes next? In other words... So now what?
A Student and his Coach fly in freefall. Our coaching programs are designed to take the beginner and novice jumpers to their next levels in skydiving. We follow the guidelines set out by the Canadian Sport Parachuting Association (CSPA) for getting 'Solo Certificate' holders to develop the necessary skills in order to become a safe and competent 'A - Licensed' skydiver. After the 'A' license we can work with you to obtain your 'B', 'C' and 'D' licenses. The coaches here at Skydive Burnaby are all certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and are highly experienced professionals. A few coaches are current and former Canadian National Skydiving Team members so you can guarantee that the skills and techniques you learn are the newest and safest in the sport. To view the requirements check out the CSPA website and to get your own copies of the CSPA Parachutist Information Manuals (PIM's) and relevant information visit the CSPA website. For coaching and license requirements contact Skydive Burnaby and ask about the CSPA Coaching Programs. In addition to the freefall opportunities at the DropZone, we are also developing a curriculum that combines Vertical Wind Tunnel flying and freefall experience to advance the student and novice jumpers skills even further, faster and safer. |
Why Do I Need A Skydiving Coach? The real answer is, you don't. But...
Many people are just naturally gifted. Be it the 14 year old computer whiz, the prodigal mathematician or the sous chef with an amazing palette. They have recognized their shortcomings and succeeded on their integrity and given skills. Now ask an Olympian why they have a coach. If you are the fastest person in the world what effect does having a coach help you? This answer is as simple as the first one, just longer. In relation to sports, the role of the coach is to create the right conditions for learning to happen and to find ways of motivating the athletes. Most athletes are already motivated and therefore the task is to maintain that motivation and to generate excitement and enthusiasm.
The coach will need to be able to:
Therefore, you can see that coaching is a very difficult task and requires a special type of person. You may not perceive skydiving as a sport yet but don't tell that to the individuals and teams that train for years to become the best in their province, their country and the ultimate goal, the best in the world.
